Access to the Kirk

Torphichen is located just outside of Bathgate, and is adjacent to the historic Torphichen Preceptory.  For more information on how the Kirk and Preceptory are linked, click on the History tab.

The Kirk provides full disabled access.  Wheelchairs can pass from the road-side right into the Kirk without any steps.  There is a wheelchair space inside the Kirk and a wheelchair accessible toilet.

For the hard of hearing, there is an induction hearing loop so that the Minister and those reading from the Bible may be clearly heard.

It was not easy to achieve this access without compromising the Kirk's listed building status. However, this has all been accomplished through persistent and imaginative fund-raising led by Judy Imrie, and by some creative and determined negotiations with the planning authorities by our then Fabric Convener, George Johnston.
