Born at Brig House, 1894. Son of John William Stuart, paper manufacturer from Blair Atholl and Mrs. Kate Stuart (maiden surname Denniston and born in Greenock), Brig House, Bridgehouse. Educated at Merchiston Castle School. Killed in action at Passchendaele. He received a relatively minor wound in the thigh or hip and was carried to a pillbox aid station where his stretcher was hit by a shell. One of his stretcher bearers was killed instantly and Atholl died soon after. Shown on St. John’s Hall memorial (with age of 24).
